研究目的:
本研究は、中国第一歴史檔案館に所蔵される清代の新疆関係の満洲語檔案を網羅的に集めて出版した『清代新疆満文檔案彙編』（全２８３冊、以下『彙編』と略称する）という資料集を中心に、さらに台北国立故宮博物館所蔵の関連文書を総合的に利用することによって、大清帝国が現在の新疆に当たる地域を中心にユーラシア中央域に進出するに至った歴史的背景と、そこに暮らす遊牧民とオアシス農耕民の社会構造および彼らに対する支配の実態を明らかにする。
本研究では、当該地域の多言語史料に記録された遊牧民とオアシス農耕民の実態や相互関係を、これまで未解読の満洲語檔案史料に基づいて明らかにすることで、従来の研究史の枠組みを根底から覆すような新しい史実を解明することが期待される。檔案史料の文献研究と並行するかたちで、文書資料のデータベースを構築するとともに、檔案史料にみえる地理情報にかかわる記述を収集したGISベースマップを作成することで、満洲語檔案を史料として研究に活用するための基盤づくりをおこなう。

This research project focuses on the Qingdai Xinjiang Manwen dang’an huibian 清代新疆満文檔案彙編, a comprehensive 283-volume compilation of Manchu-language archival documents related to Qing-period Xinjiang, drawn from the holdings of the First Historical Archives of China. It will also utilize related documents held by the National Palace Museum in Taipei. This project aims to clarify the historical background of the Great Qing Empire's advance into the Central Eurasian region, particularly present-day Xinjiang, as well as the social structures of the nomadic and oasis agricultural populations living there under Qing rule and the realities of Qing governance over them.
By utilizing previously undeciphered Manchu archival materials as a foundation, this project aims to clarify the actual conditions and interrelationships of the nomadic and agricultural peoples of this region and reveal new historical facts that will fundamentally challenge the existing frameworks of conventional research. Together with philological research, this project will also compile a text database, and a GIS base map of geographical information extracted from the archival materials, to create a foundation for continued use of Manchu archival materials in historical research.
